Windowing
businessThe sequential release of content across different distribution channels.
Explanation
Windowing is the practice of releasing content on different distribution platforms in sequence over time. For films, the traditional order is: theatrical release → PVOD → DVD/Blu-ray → SVOD/AVOD. Each "window" has a different price point and audience. Streaming has changed traditional windowing considerably.
