Explanation

Day-and-date release is when a film is made available on a streaming platform on the same day it opens in theaters. This strategy was pioneered by Netflix and popularized during COVID-19. Warner Bros. released its entire 2021 film slate simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters. Most studios have since returned to traditional theatrical windows.
