Explanation

Day-and-date release is when a film is available on a streaming platform on the same day it opens in theaters. Netflix started this approach, and it became widespread during COVID-19. Warner Bros. released its entire 2021 film slate on HBO Max and in theaters at the same time. Most studios have since gone back to traditional theatrical windows.
