A co-production is a film or series produced and financed jointly by two or more parties, usually a streaming platform and a local broadcaster or studio in another country. Co-productions help streaming services lower costs, tap into local production talent, and qualify for regional tax incentives. Both parties typically get distribution rights in their own territories. Series like Squid Game and Money Heist started as broadcaster-streamer co-productions.
