Explanation

Subtitles are text overlays on video that translate or transcribe dialogue and sometimes other audio. Foreign-language subtitles translate dialogue into the viewer's language. SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing) also describe sound effects. All major streaming services offer subtitle options in multiple languages.
