Explanation

Closed captions (CC) are synchronized text overlays that include dialogue and descriptions of significant sounds (e.g., "[EXPLOSION]", "[PHONE RINGING]"). CC is designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers. They can be turned on or off, hence "closed." All major streaming services in the US are legally required to provide closed captions.
