HLS

Explanation

HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) is a media streaming protocol developed by Apple that breaks video into small segments and delivers them over standard HTTP connections. It supports adaptive bitrate streaming, allowing players to seamlessly switch between quality levels based on available bandwidth. Despite being developed by Apple, HLS has become an industry-wide standard used by Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and virtually all major streaming platforms alongside the competing MPEG-DASH standard.
