How to Watch Peacock Outside the US in 2026

ByMarcus Webb·Technology & VPN Researcher

Peacock is US-only. If you moved abroad or are traveling, here are the workarounds and local alternatives that carry NBC content in your country.

Peacock is US-only. Americans traveling abroad can use the Peacock app with a qualifying Xfinity subscription for temporary international access. No legitimate alternative exists for non-US residents.

Peacock is unavailable outside the United States and Puerto Rico. NBCUniversal launched Peacock in July 2020 exclusively for the US market, and as of 2026, it has made no move toward international expansion. Viewers in the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, or anywhere else attempting to load Peacock.com receive an immediate error: "Peacock isn't available in your region." There is no international subscription tier, no international pricing, and no official launch timeline for other markets.

Why Peacock is US-only

The reason comes down to rights sold before Peacock launched. NBCUniversal — owner of NBC, Universal Pictures, Bravo, E!, Syfy, and Telemundo — licensed the international distribution rights for most of its content catalog to other broadcasters before it had a streaming platform to distribute through itself.

In the UK and Ireland, Sky (owned by Comcast, the same parent company as NBCUniversal) holds distribution rights to much of the NBCUniversal catalog. The Office (US) streams on BritBox, not Peacock, in the UK. Law & Order content appears on various Sky channels. Bravo reality content is distributed through separate deals. These existing contracts run for multi-year terms and cannot simply be revoked for Peacock's benefit — even by the same corporate parent.

Australia's Channel 9 (formerly Nine Network) has deep historical ties to NBCUniversal content, dating back to deals made in the analog broadcast era. Similar arrangements exist in Germany, France, Japan, and across Latin America.

What international viewers can actually access: BritBox and Sky

For UK viewers, the closest equivalent to Peacock's NBC content is BritBox ($8.99/month in the US; £6.99/month in the UK) which carries some US network content, and Sky Go / NOW TV which holds rights to major NBCUniversal franchises. The Office (US) is on BritBox UK. Saturday Night Live clips are available on YouTube globally. NBC News content is freely accessible on YouTube with no geo-restriction.

In Australia, Stan and Binge carry various NBCUniversal content under existing deals. In Canada, CTV (Bell Media) carries NBC shows including Saturday Night Live, The Voice, and network dramas. None of these markets have access to Peacock's Originals — shows like Poker Face, Bel-Air, or The Traitors US — which remain US-exclusive.

Xfinity subscribers: limited international access exists

There is one narrow exception. Xfinity Internet and TV subscribers who have Peacock Premium included in their package can access Peacock through the Xfinity Stream app while traveling internationally — in select countries. Xfinity markets this as a temporary travel benefit, not a full international offering. It requires an active Xfinity residential subscription, works for travel periods only (not long-term relocation), and is subject to availability by destination country.

This affects a very small percentage of potential international viewers. Xfinity serves approximately 32 million internet customers, virtually all in the US. Americans who cancel their Xfinity service when moving abroad lose this access entirely.

VPN access: unreliable and against Terms of Service

VPNs can theoretically provide a US IP address to access Peacock from abroad. In practice, Peacock has invested heavily in VPN detection since 2022. GeoComply's GeoGuard system, used by Peacock and other streaming platforms, achieves 99.1% VPN detection accuracy using a combination of IP reputation databases, DNS leak detection, GPS cross-referencing (on mobile), and behavioral analysis.

Most standard VPN connections are blocked immediately. Some premium providers (NordVPN, ExpressVPN) occasionally bypass detection, but the window between Peacock identifying and blocking their residential IP pools is increasingly short — sometimes hours. VPN use also violates Peacock's Terms of Service, though no individual subscriber has ever been prosecuted for this in any jurisdiction.

Peacock's content catalog: what you'd be missing

Peacock's catalog includes the entire NBC broadcast library, Universal Pictures titles (30 days after streaming window opens), DreamWorks Animation content, 50,000+ hours of content from NBC Sports (including Premier League, NASCAR, golf), WWE Network content, and Peacock Originals. As of Q1 2026, Peacock has approximately 36 million paid subscribers in the US, up from 28 million at end of 2024.

The Premier League is Peacock's most internationally sought content. Premier League rights are held by NBC Sports in the US (exclusive), meaning international fans cannot access these specific broadcasts — even games available on Peacock for US viewers use US-specific commentary and production.
